In its 56th year, the Limassol Wine Festival will open its doors to the public from August 31 – September 10.
“This year’s Wine Festival will be fuller and more exciting with Greek performer Bampis Tsertos and with the ‘Yiorgalletous’ performing during the opening ceremony as well as the following day,” said Nicolaides, Limassol Mayor.
The annual festival brings the islands four major wine producers – ETKO, LOEL, KEO and SODAP along with a number of smaller wineries together in a carnival-like setting and for a small entrance fee, visitors are welcome to unlimited free barrel wine.
Limassol Municipality Cultural Officer Skevi Antoniadou said that this year’s entertainment programme has been beefed up with many theatrical and musical performances on four different stages around the gardens.
The Cyprus Tourism Organisation will also run buses to the Wine Festival from other towns around Cyprus.
